The Serenity Prayer
Gaia, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
This prayer was written by theologian Reinhold Neibuhr (although his wording was slightly different) and it was later adopted by Alcoholics Anonymous. The usual version starts with 'God', but I have substituted Gaia.
While the teachings of the BDO are animistic and polytheistic, personally I'm a pantheist. I don't see this as a conflict. To me, pantheism and animism are two ways of saying basically the same thing, and pantheism and polytheism are two sides of the same coin. You can have many names for the divine. Gaia is a name that feels right for me, but you might have have a different name or names.
